Chan's Kitchen Oakland

Chan's Kitchen is a expansion of their Newark location under same owner and management. They replaced Shanghai Restaurant with same structure just minor tweaks and decor. Since Newark isn't my territory I haven't been to their original place, so I only can say what I experience here only. Before trying this place, I hit up my eastbay (CI) aka confidential informat and explain situation. I was told the place is legit and authentic at best. Those two words literally sold me and comic-con last day is Sunday I had extra ticket from our mutual media outlet. I left Haight Street fair at three o'clock and made the drive. I'm surprised to see menu with nothing over nine dollars. To me Taiwanese food is similar to Chinese so I expect some good tasting food. Boy! Was my informat right or what? Minced pork bento box was worth trying. You get half a simmered egg, mixed sauteed veggies, tofu, rice, and full bowl of minced pork complete with natural juice. Everything on plate is made fresh with minced pork seasoned perfectly. Not too salty at all and very flavorful. Btw, pot of hot tea comes with meal by default no extra charge.

Great soft opening menu, excellent handmade dumplings & oyster pancake. Fried pork chop is legit Taiwan style.
